French league is rubbish? Tell that to Lille coach
It’s one thing to suffer an unexpected defeat.
Being poked fun at in the aftermath, however, takes it to another level.
Lille coach Rene Girard, three-time Ligue 1 winner as a player, is sick of people telling him that the French league is rubbish.
So he retorted, using Arsenal’s recent shock 3-1 loss to Monaco in the Champions League as an example: “To those who say our league is s***, it (Monaco’s win over Arsenal) proves there’s perhaps s*** elsewhere as well.”
We wonder what Arsene Wenger will say if he hears of this.
The Gunners face a tough assignment turning the tie around in the second leg at the Stade Louis II in less than three weeks’ time.
