Laos struggle but win

Laos may have got their South-east Asia (SEA) Games campaign up and running last night following a 2-1 win over Group B rivals Brunei at the Bishan Stadium.

However, coach David Booth was far from a happy man at the final whistle after watching his players toil to what should have been a straightforward win. It took them 11 minutes to break the deadlock after a poor pass by defender Azri Zahari saw Phoutthasay Khochalern eventually receive the ball before firing a 20-metre strike that was deflected into goal.

The Laotians were stunned in the 67th minute when Azwan Ali curled the equaliser into the top corner.

With 16 minutes left, Laos claimed the win throuigh a cool finish by Soukchinda Natphasouk.

"This is probably the first time I've won a game and not been satisfied," a frustrated Booth said.
