Fans of Liverpool and Manchester United are licking their lips at the tantalising prospect of a League Cup final between the two teams.
Liverpool will meet Southampton in the semi-finals after the Saints beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium yesterday morning (Singapore time) to reach the last four of the competition for the first time since the 1986-87 season.
Liverpool, winners of the cup a record eight times and finalists last year, had seen off Leeds 2-0 on Tuesday at Anfield where 17-year-old Ben Woodburn became the club's youngest goalscorer.
The other semi-final will see Manchester United play Hull.
United beat West Ham 4-1 at Old Trafford yesterday morning, while Hull had needed penalties to get past Championship leaders Newcastle following extra-time in their tie on Tuesday.The first legs will be played the week commencing Jan 9, with the second legs a fortnight later. - PA SPORT.
