Mourinho fails to win Manager of the Month award

Jose Mourinho has failed to win the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award this season despite leading Chelsea to the league title.

Ironically, the Portuguese was also the last manager who won the league crown without winning a single Manager of the Month award in the 2005-06 season.

For last month, the award went to Leicester manager Nigel Pearson, giving more credence to the Portuguese’s claim of a conspiracy against him, reported Mail Online.

Previously, the manager of title-winning sides Manchester United and Arsenal, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger respectively, have won their first monthly award in April, but not Mourinho.

But Mourinho is tipped to win the Premier League Manager of the Year at the end of the season this month.

Earlier he had fumed about the difficulty in winning the monthly award: “I don’t care. But there is something that is not right because, in four years in the Premier League, I’ve won the manager of the month three times.

“So, for sure, they don’t like me. But I don’t care. I just want my team to win.”

In December, Barclays Manager of the Month spokesman Andrew McDougall denied any bias when he said: “The panel is made up of around 40 people, all involved in football... The person who wins is simply the one who gets the most votes.

“There is certainly no bias against Jose, who we all know is a great manager.”
