Oriental twist to new Cardiff emblem

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan upset the fans when he changed the club badge in 2012.

The bluebird emblem was reduced to a small space at the bottom of the crest, its original place replaced by a red dragon.

And not only that, he also changed the home colour from blue to red.

But this January, he announced a switch back to the blue home shirts, a move which pleased the club’s supporters.

But it remains to be seen if they will be as delighted with the new badge.

While the bluebird will return to the centre of the badge, he said that it will also contain an “oriental dragon”.

New design

Next Monday, the club will reveal the full design of the new badge after releasing a teaser image this week.

Said Tan: “The new crest has been designed in-house and I think it is very good. I’m very happy with it.

“It has got the dragon on there but this time it has got an oriental dragon.

“I think the fans will be happy because it has the bluebird. It’s truly outstanding.”
