Pool over title heartbreak, claims Sturridge
Liverpool have moved on from missing out on the English Premier League (EPL) title last season, says Daniel Sturridge.
The Reds were on course to seal their first league title of the Premier League era before their bid was derailed by a defeat to Chelsea and a draw to Crystal Palace, allowing Manchester City to capitalise on their slip and lift the trophy.
Despite coming so close to glory but ultimately falling short at the critical moment, Sturridge claims that the team have put the events of last season behind them as they started the new EPL season with a win over Southampton.
The England striker said: "We were heartbroken at the end of last season but we are refreshed this season and mentally ready for a long season, again especially with the Champions League.
"That is something I can't wait to play in and the players can't wait to play in.
"It took a while (to get over the disappointment). It is not easy to get over things like that but everyone is over that now and we look forward to the future and hopefully bringing success the club."
