Reporter takes on Louis van Gaal in points v pounds challenge

After a 3-3 draw with Newcastle on Jan 12, an unhappy Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal lost his cool at the post-match media conference.

After appearing frustrated by a question on Wayne Rooney, who has been under fire for much of the season but scored twice against the Magpies, he called one of the journalists present a “fat man”.

That “fat man” has since been identified as The Sun’s Manchester correspondent Neil Custis.

In response, Custis has issued a pounds versus points dare to the Dutchman.

Promising to lose 28 pounds (12.7kg) by the end of the season, he challenged van Gaal to get 28 points for the Red Devils in their remaining games.

‘’You’ve got to get more points than I lose pounds,’’ Custis said.

The winner gets to donate £1,000 from bookmaker Paddy Power to a charity of their choice.

If custis drops 52 pounds, he will win automatically, as 51 is the maximum number of points Van Gaal can pick up for the reaminder of the season
