Rossi's grandpa blasts 'traitor' Prandelli for striker's exclusion
Well, that escalated rather quickly.
While Giuseppe Rossi took his exclusion from Italy's 23-men World Cup squad with a touch of grace atop of his understandable frustration, it looks like his grandfather Bruno Petrocelli has an axe to grind with national coach Cesare Prandelli.
And considering grandpa Rossi is going so far as to renounce his support for the Azzurri, it's a real big axe at that.
Petrocelli stuck it to the Italian coach when he took to Italian radio, saying: "Two days ago Prandelli said many fine words, then 48 hours later he changed his mind.
"Prandelli has made the biggest farce of his career, he has betrayed Rossi and did not live to convene a player like my grandson who is in excellent health.
"I will not be rooting for Italy, in that there are national traitors. I'll be cheering for the USA.
"It's [Prandelli] not good enough to judge my grandson and there's nothing more I can say. I know that my grandson's fit and he has a medical certificate to prove it."
I suppose Prandelli won't be getting a Christmas card from the Rossi family this year, will he?
