Saints exodus to continue as Spurs close in on duo
Will Southampton actually be able to field a team when the new English Premier League (EPL) starts on Aug 16?
It seems like the exodus from St Mary's Stadium isn't letting up with Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez reportedly closing in on a Tottenham switch.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who also left Southampton after guiding them to eighth place last season to match their best finish in the EPL era, is keen on a reunion with the French and England Internationals.
Reports in the British media said that the clubs are in talks over the double transfer.
The news comes shortly after 19-year-old right-back Calum Chambers made a £16 million ($33.7m) move to Spurs' north London rivals Arsenal on Monday.
While the club have sold Chambers, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw and Dejan Lovren for a combined £92m according to the BBC, new Saints manager Ronald Koeman has brought in just two new recruits in Dusan Tadic from FC Twente and Graziano Pelle from Feyenoord.
It looks like the St Mary's faithful will be braced for a long and tough season ahead if their club continue to lose their star players without suitable replacements coming in.
