Is Sky's hit EPL ad inspired by Luther Vandross?
It has been the talk among fans of the English Premier League since it was released on Thursday morning (Singapore time).
A Sky Sports ad featuring Thierry Henry digitally inserted into some of the Premier League era's most memorable moments has gone viral.
The ad — which celebrates Sky's 23rd year of EPL coverage — features the former Arsenal striker turned pundit interacting with some of the league's iconic scenes.
He shadows Eric Cantona for his audacious chip against Sunderland; wipesoff Steven Gerrard's saliva after the former Liverpool skipper kissed the camera at Old Trafford in 2009; he even celebrates alongside himself when Arsenal's Invincibles side won the title in 2004.
With so many of the league's finest moment squeezed into 90 seconds, it's not surprising that the video has been a major hit with fans.
However, some of us couldn't help but feel that some of the editing for Henry's time travels left room for improvement.
Like the moment Stan Collymore crushed Kevin Keegan's spirit as he scored Liverpool's winner against Newcastle at Anfield in 1996:
Or when Tony Yeboah scored his magnificent volley against Liverpool for Leeds United in 1995:
It reminded us of another video where composites were used - Luther Vandross' Give Me the Reason which featured scenes from the black comedy Ruthless People.
Of course, Vandross' music video was made close to 30 years ago in 1986 with much less sophisticated technology than what is available today.
