Stange, Hariss to miss Asian Games
The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has confirmed that head coach Bernd Stange and midfield star Hariss Harun will not travel to Incheon, South Korea, for the Asian Games.
National assistant coach Aide Iskandar will deputise for Stange after the German had been advised by doctors not to travel due to viral fever.
Hariss was supposed to be one of Singapore's overaged players at the Under-23 tournament, but FAS was unable to secure his release from Malaysian Super League side Johor Darul Ta'zim because of their involvement in the Malaysia Cup.
Instead, Warriors FC goalkeeper Hassan Sunny as well as LionsXII defenders Afiq Yunos and Baihakki Khaizan will fill the three overaged player slots in the 20-man squad.
Singapore are in Group C along with Tajikistan, Oman and Palestine.
The Lions, who are ranked 152nd in the world, will first take on world No 120 side Tajikistan on Sept 14 at the Ansan Wu Stadium.
The Games will be held from Sept 19 to Oct 4, with football starting a few days earlier.
