Sterling can't be bothered with the flak

Liverpool’s contract rebel Raheem Sterling has said that he is not bothered with the flak he is drawing for rejecting the club’s £100,000-per-week ($202,212) offer to extend his contract.

He revealed that the criticism “goes in one ear and goes out the other”.

He told Liverpool Echo: “Everyone has their opinion on me at this moment in time but I’m just a kid who loves to play football and to try and improve every day and be the best I can be.

“It just goes in one ear and goes out the other. I don’t read anything, don’t look at anything and, for me, it’s all football. I’m genuinely focused on doing my best for this football club.”

After turning down the offer, Sterling, 20, has been accused of being greedy and was even heckled at the Reds’ recent kit launch at Anfield.

Sterling, one of England’s top young players, has stated that he will start talks over his future only after the season ends next month.

England’s top sides, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, are reportedly keeping tabs on developments.
