Sunderland for the drop? Yes, says club's main sponsors
How’s this for a lack of faith?
Sunderland’s main sponsors have made the club odds-on favourites for relegation.
Dafabet’s name might be emblazoned on the Sunderland jersey, and the website boasts the club logo along with a dramatic image of players Lee Cattermole, Seb Larsson and Jermain Defoe.
But after two disappointing losses in the English Premier League, the betting company has made the Mackems 5/8 favourites for the drop.
To add insult to injury, the betting site also names Sunderland 1,000/1 to finish in the top four.
Their first match, against Leicester, saw the Black Cats go down by three goals within the first 25 minutes. That match ended 4-2 to the hosts.
Then the match at home against newly promoted Norwich ended in a 3-1 defeat.
Manager Dick Advocaat held a meeting to "clear the air" with players.
The hope is that it will help before they meet Swansea on Saturday. So far, the Swans have held Chelsea to a 2-all draw and have beaten Newcastle.
The magpies are also named as Dafabets likely suspects for the drop at 4/1 behind Bournemouth at 6/5 and Aston Villa at 11/4.
Sunderland are currently bottom of the table with zero points.
