Ten found guilty of match-fixing in Vietnam
A Vietnamese court has found nine footballers and one bookie guilty of fixing Vissai Ninh Binh's AFC Cup match against Malaysian Super League side Kelantan.
State media reported that bookmaker Dao Duc Loi and former Vietnamese national player Tranh Manh were each jailed for 30 months while the remaining eight Vissai Ninh Binh footballers were handed suspended sentences.
The 10 guilty parties had colluded to throw the Vietnamese club's away match to Kelantan in the group stage in March for US$40,000 .
Despite losing 3-2 to the Malaysian side, Vissai Ninh Binh managed to top Group G.
While the club have withdrawn from the domestic top division, they have been allowed to remain in the second-tier continental club competition where they trail Hong Kong club Kitchee 2-4 in the two-legged quarter-finals.
The second leg will take place at the Mongkok Stadium in Hong Kong on Tuesday night.
