Turan claims his Ballon d'Or vote was changed

Is the voting for the Ballon d’Or entirely accurate?

Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan has taken to social media to insist that Fifa got his vote for Coach of the Year pick wrong.

The 27-year-old said that he had picked his club coach Diego Simeone as his first pick in the Ballon d’Or voting, but selections published on Fifa’s website show his vote going to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

The Turkish captain is shown to have picked eventual winner Joachim Loew as his second choice, and Simeone his third.

Turan tweeted: “Regarding the Ballon d’Or and the Coach of the Year award, I’ve had many questions and want to address them again.

“On the day where I was asked for my selections, I elected Diego Simeone as the best coach and Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player, it was exactly so.

“For me Simeone is the best coach in the world and if he had won the award I’d be as happy as if they’d given it to me.

“I’d like the press and the whole world to know this. I’ve explained it again so nobody can be confused.”
