United set to (finally) land Herrera - reports
Manchester United are set to make Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera their first signing under new manager Louis van Gaal.
The Red Devils had tried to sign the 24-year-old Spaniard last year but failed agree a deal with the Basque side before transfer deadline day.
Now, it looks like they've got their man.
Reports emanating from Spain and the UK have suggested that van Gaal has given the United the green light to shell out the £30 million ($63.6m) required to trigger Herrera's release clause, which was due to increase after June.
An attacking midfielder, Herrera is a good passer of the ball who will add creativity and guile in the Manchester United engine room.
Not exactly the hard midfield enforcer United are sorely lacking at the moment, but it is a signing nonetheless which should give Red Devils fans something to smile about.
