WATCH: Wind assists to score freak own goal

When chasing victory, some teams throw caution to the wind.

But all Romford had to do was to watch the wind carry the ball into the opponent’s goal.

In an Isthmian League Division One North match on Tuesday, Thurrock defender Kamarl Duncan tried to clear the ball from near the midfield circle.

Then the full force of Mother Nature took over, amazingly lifting the ball up and backwards before it bounced over goalkeeper Rhys Madden for an own goal.

Thurrock later equalised to draw 1-1 with hosts Romford.

Their manager Mark Stimson would later say: “Romford’s goal was something you can only describe after seeing.”
