Gerard Pique tells cops 'you're jealous because I'm famous' after being stopped
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique told Spanish police something they definitely didn't want to hear when they stopped him for a check.
Pique was reportedly stopped by officers while he was on the way to a casino with his brother on Sunday (Oct 12) and was asked to get out of the car.
Pique, 27, who is Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira's boyfriend, told police "you're jealous of me because I'm famous" after being handed a fine, Metro reported citing La Vanguardia newspaper, a Spanish daily.
Mirror Online reported that Pique was stopped when he met with brother Marc in the Port Olimpic area of Catalonia when Marc was seen to have stopped in a bus zone.
After telling the cops off, Pique's attitude allegedly got even worse.
The famed centre-back then told the authorities: "I'll call your boss and get this sorted out". After which, Pique allegedly rolled up the paper slip and threw it at them.
He has since apologised on Twitter for the incident. He tweeted in Spanish that the incident had been "greatly exaggerated" and added that he was "sorry" and assured his followers that he "was wrong and (it) will not happen again."
The father of one is set to appear in court after being charged with civil disobedience.
