Jing-E rewrites long-standing mark

Tan Jing-E (right) rewrote one of the oldest national Under-14 girls' records yesterday at the Singapore Swimming Association time trials at the Toa Payoh Swimming Complex.

The Swimfast Aquatic Club swimmer clocked 1min 2.72sec in the girls' 100m fly to erase Christel Bouvron's mark of 1:02.83, set in 1998.

Former swim queen Joscelin Yeo still holds the oldest national record for girls in that age-group, with her 26.89 effort in the 50m free in 1993.

Meanwhile, Darren Chua set a new national Under-14 boys' record when he clocked 2:13.26 in the 200m individual medley to better Dylan Koo's previous mark of 2:14.21.
