OCBC's Sheppard soars

The OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling Team's Eric Sheppard climbed from 72nd to 35th in the General Classification (GC) standings at the Herald Sun Tour yesterday, after finishing in the lead pack in the 116-kilometre Stage 1 in Ballarat, Australia.

The 22-year-old Aussie finished in 32nd place and now trails yellow jersey leader Garmin-Sharp's Nathan Haas by 22 seconds in the GC standings, after he claimed the stage in a time of 3:04:12.

Singapore's Low Ji Wen was the next-highest OCBC finisher, coming in 70th in a time of 3:13:59.

The Singapore outfit currently rank 13th out of the 16 squads in the Team General Classification.

The tour continues with the second stage today.
