NINETYSEVEN GOLD, who earned a headline in The New Paper last Friday week after winning his trial impressively, has proven once again that the barrier trial is a good source to look for winners.

The Brian Dean-trained youngster brought that form to the races last Friday night, when he beat a strong field, which included the unbeaten Golden Sword, who finished second.

The money was initially for Golden Sword, but the last-minute plunge made Ninetyseven Gold the $16 favourite.
