Jia Min a champion
Singapore's Yeo Jia Min, 17, beat Japan's Ayumi Mine 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) to claim the women's singles crown yesterday at the US$55,000 ($75,000) Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2016.
The Singaporean shuttler, ranked world No. 161, was too good for the Japanese world No. 56, who had beaten tournament top seed Hsu Ya-ching of Taiwan to secure her spot at the final.
Vincent Wong of Hong Kong took top spot in the men's singles event after a narrow 2-1 victory over Malaysia's Chong Wei Feng.
