Lively Dragon (Race 7 No. 2)

A racegoer who had backed LIVELY DRAGON on debut would have had his heart in his mouth. After all, that day in March, Lively Dragon was extra lively and put up a show before the start when he tossed his rider and galloped riderless for some distance before being caught.

The vet on duty certified him fit to race and he was spot-on. Lively Dragon did it from the front and had it in the bag some way from home. Sure, it was a narrow margin between him and second-placed Ninetysix Champ. But it always looked like he wasn't going to disappoint that other Dragon - his trainer, Leticia.

Lively Dragon looks to have had good preparation coming into this and, with some luck from a tricky draw, he should make it two from two.

SIRF takes off

The Singapore International Racing Festival (SIRF) is on from tomorrow to May 18. The public can look forward to a series of fun-filled equine roadshows and activities at shopping malls over two weekends, culminating in the two international races on May 18.

The 13 Turf Belles who were carefully selected from a talent search will make their first public appearance at Bugis+ tomorrow.

Donned in jockey silks of the past 13 Singapore Airlines International Cup (SIA Cup) winners, the Turf Belles will join staff from the Singapore Turf Club in the "Caps for Charity" event to sell specially-designed SIA Cup caps for a good cause.

All proceeds will be donated to the Club's adopted charity - Thye Hua Kwan EIPIC Centre @ Woodlands - to boost the charity's Resource Library as part of their Equipment and Materials Loan Program.

The public can support the event or their favourite Turf Belle by purchasing the SIA Cup caps for this meaningful cause.
