Loh, Lee appeals verdict to come soon

The appeals hearing of Singapore Athletic Association (SAA) vice-presidents Loh Chan Pew and Steven Lee took place yesterday before a panel chaired by Low Teo Ping, president of the Singapore Rugby Union.

The panel, which also included Singapore Bowling Federation president Jessie Phua and Sport Singapore deputy chairman Cheah Kim Teck, will now decide on the outcome of the appeals of Loh and Lee against their recent suspensions.

"We are assessing the appeals and will make our recommendation in due course. A statement will be released in the next few days," said Low.

Both officials had been suspended by the SAA for four months - from Feb 18 to June 30.

Lee had allegedly overstepped his authority by contacting the International Association of Athletics Federations to clarify SAA procedures without informing president Tang Weng Fei.

Loh was charged for behaving aggressively at an SAA exco meeting. In his appeal letter, he also accused a senior member of the SAA of being involved in irregular practices.
