Singles and doubles Joy for Singapore bowlers

Singapore clinched two golds and two bronzes at the Asian Schools Bowling Championships in Jakarta yesterday.

Joy Yap, 18, won the girls' singles with a six-game total of 1,446 pinfalls - including a perfect fourth game - beating Indonesia's Imai Futaba by one pinfall.

Singapore's Kristin Quah finished third with 1,395 pinfalls.

Joy and Amanda Lee then combined to win the girls' doubles title with 2,975 pinfalls, ahead of Indonesians Aldila Indryati and Alisha Nabila Larasati (2,779).

Singapore's Charmaine Chang and Muhd Azni Iliya Syamim took the bronze with 2,765 pinfalls.

The competition continues today with the team events.
