Agent hints at Falcao exit

Radamel Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes admits the striker's future may lie away from Manchester United.

Falcao (photo) is on a season-long loan deal at United from Monaco, which includes the option for the Premier League side to buy the Colombian.

But United might not take up the option, as the 28-year-old has scored only three times in an injury-affected campaign and was left out of the squad for last Sunday's 1-0 home loss to Southampton.

"The truth is, right now we don't know what will happen," Mendes told Sky Italia.

"What we do know is that he will play in one of the very best clubs in the world next season, whether they are Manchester United or not.

"I am 100 per cent sure of that. But you know how football works, we need to wait a little. We'll see what happens."

Reports have suggested Falcao was shocked by United boss Louis van Gaal's decision to omit him from the 18-man match-day squad against Southampton, a call the manager said was tactical.

Van Gaal also stressed after Sunday's game that Falcao had started the previous five fixtures and that the next match would be "another moment" in terms of selection.

Mendes added: "He (Falcao) is a fantastic player, and I think it's very difficult for Manchester United fans.

"They have an absolutely brilliant player, one of the very best in the world, who would without any doubt play 90 minutes of the match, every time, with any other club."

Falcao's future at Old Trafford appears to be in doubt, but one player who is definitely one of the first to be picked if he's fit is Angel di Maria.

The Argentina forward yesterday urged fans to forget about the old United style as van Gaal is creating something new.

He said: "We're beginning something new here. We've got a new style, we've got a new manager and we're all working hard to make sure we're putting Manchester United back where the club belong." - PA Sport.
