DPMM beat Albirex to extend lead

Brunei DPMM extended their lead atop the Great-Eastern Yeo's S.League to 10 points after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Albirex Niigata at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium last night.

It was goalless in the first half, but Albirex took the lead through defender Itsuki Yamada in the 55th minute. The hosts responded three minutes later, courtesy of in-form striker Roy O'Donovan, who thumped a shot into the top-right corner for his 11th goal of this season.

The Irishman then earned a penalty in the 71st minute when he was brought down in the box. His striker partner, Rodrigo Tosi, converted from the spot for his 12th goal in the league and sealed the win for DPMM.

DPMM now lead the table with 31 points, 10 ahead of Warriors FC and Tampines Rovers.
