Falcao to snub Reds for Real

The search for Luis Suarez's replacement goes on.

The Reds had been linked with a big-money move for Monaco's Radamel Falcao but, according to the Liverpool Echo, the switch is no longer on amid financial concerns and the player's preference.

A loan deal had been proposed for the Colombian, but that would have cost Brendan Rodgers in excess of £12 million ($25m) alone.

The player is also currently earning around £10m a year, which is another figure that Liverpool were not happy with.

Finally, it has been made clear that if Falcao leaves Monaco, then it will only be to join Real Madrid.

As a result, Rodgers has reportedly turned his attention to Suarez' compatriot, Edinson Cavani.

The Paris Saint-Germain player has been in good form for his club, but rumours remain that he would favour a move away from the French capital.

"I can confirm that Cavani heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal," said Cavani's agent Claudi Anelluci. "Cavani has said he would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision."

It is unlikely that PSG will let the Uruguayan leave and, if the Reds fail to lure Cavani to Anfield, they may turn to Lazio striker Keita Balde Diao.

The 19-year-old Spaniard is rated at £24m and it was reported that Liverpool began talks this week, initially offering £15.8m for his services, which Sky Italia said was rejected.

Meanwhile, Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno is set to make his long anticipated move to Anfield next week after the Uefa Super Cup in Cardiff. Reds' midfielder Suso goes the other way in the £14m deal. - Wire Services.
