Rooney should play up front
After being deployed in defensive midfield against Burnley last week, we asked you readers what is Rooney's best position. Here are some of the replies:
ADDS TO THE ATTACK
Wayne Rooney should play as a striker for the simple reason that Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao are not performing.
With Rooney (above), they will strike fear in the opposing teams' hearts. At least the pressure on the defenders is reduced.

Rooney should be playing in his best position, which is as a striker. He is the third highest all-time scorer in the EPL and even for England. Enough said.

DON'T WASTE HIS TALENT ELSEWHERE
Rooney is a striker and should remain as one.
It's a waste to play him elsewhere when he can easily give you 20 goals a season.
At 29, he is at his prime and playing him in midfield might just hurt his career and Man United's chances of finishing in the top four.
He is their best option up front and it is quite surprising that he has been sacrificed for the misfiring van Persie and Falcao.
RVP NEEDS TO BE FED
Rooney should play as a striker.
Falcao and van Persie need support. Van Persie is the type of player who needs the ball to be fed to him and Rooney can be the link between him and the midfield.
As a striker, he also runs back to his own half often to pressure the opponents.
What's the point of playing Rooney in midfield? United have an array of world-class talents there.
BUY BETTER MIDFIELDERS
Rooney should be playing up front, not as an out-and-out striker, but as one who can hold the ball and dribble.
However, now United need someone behind the strikers, someone who has good vision and can pass and distribute.
So, van Gaal should play him in midfield first. United can push him up front after buying a few good midfielders.
