United's Herrera out with rib fracture
Louis van Gaal has been dealt another injury headache after Ander Herrera fractured a rib during Manchester United's 2-1 over West Ham United.
The Old Trafford treatment has seen an injury pile-up with Jonny Evans, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard all recovering from various injuries.
They have now been joined by summer signing Herrera, who had to be taken off during the victory over the Hammers with what seemed at the time to be a back injury.
Monitoring
United released a statement on their official website that read: "Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera sustained a fractured rib during the match against West Ham United on Saturday.
"The Spaniard was substituted in the 74th minute and the club will continue to monitor his progress over the next few weeks."
No specific time frame was given on Herrera's recovery.
The injury is certainly a blow for the 25-year-old who has been in good form since his move to the English Premier League scoring twice in four appearances.
