Van Gaal picks new-look Oranje

Holland coach Louis van Gaal unveiled his provisional 30-man World Cup squad yesterday, with several veterans missing out.

Among the absentees are Paris St Germain right back Gregory van der Wiel, who has tendinitis, goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and defenders John Heitinga and Joris Mathijsen.

Only eight members of this squad featured at the last World Cup, when the Dutch lost to Spain in the final.

Wesley Sneijder is in despite doubts over his condition. Seven of the squad come from Dutch championship runners-up Feyenoord.

Holland are in Group B with Spain, Chile and Australia. - AFP.
