Take a look at Charlie Adam's stunner, plus other long-range goals in the EPL
Stoke City's midfielder Charlie Adam might have been standing well inside his own half, but he saw an opportunity to score.
And boy, did he grab it.
After the match, the 29-year-old said he saw Chelsea's goalkeeper off his line and decided to go for it.
“I always have a look at the goalkeeper’s position throughout a match because these balls move so much," he added.
Trailing 1-0 at the time, his 44th min goal levelled the scores.
However, his stunning effort was not enough to prevent Stoke going down against Chelsea 2-1, courtesy of a Loic Remy effort in the 62nd minute.
After the match, Adam said: “It was great to get back in the game but the biggest thing is we lost the match."
The loss though did not stop the comparisons between his goals and earlier wonder strikes in the Premier League.
In no particular order, here are some of the best efforts.
David Beckham: Manchester United vs Wimbledon, 1996
Xabi Alonso: Liverpool vs Newcastle, 2006
Maynor Figueroa: Wigan vs Stoke, 2009
Tim Howard: Everton vs Bolton, 2012
Wayne Rooney: Manchester United vs West Ham 2014
