Gymnasts strike gold in Asean School Games
Singapore clinched two golds, two silvers and four bronzes on the first day of the Asean School Games in Chiangmai, Thailand, yesterday.
The Republic's gymnastics quintet of Kiera Lau, Togawa Mei, Tan Sze En, Colette Chan and Nadine Joy Nathan won the girls' team event, while Sze En, 15, also took the girls' individual gold.
Her teammate Nadine, 16, won the silver in the same category, while the gymnastics boys' team took bronze.
Jade Lim, 16, was the best performer among the swimmers yesterday, when she clinched a silver in the girls' 50m breaststroke, while teammates Ervina Lim, Gan Ching Hwee and Faith Elizabeth Khoo won bronze in three individual events.
The Games will end on Wednesday. - LIM SAY HENG
