'Hosts' Dragons get a good draw
The "home" team in the World Club Rugby 10s tournament were given a good draw at the Singapore Marriott Hotel yesterday.
The Asia Pacific Dragons, owned by the organisers of the tournament Carinat Sports Marketing, were drawn in Pool B with the Brumbies franchise from Australia, the Cardiff Blues from Wales and Italian side Petraca Rugby.
In Pool A, France's Biarritz Olympique are joined by The Blues from Auckland, New Zealand, the Samoa national team and England's London Welsh.
The eight teams were grouped according to geographical location for the draw, so that no teams from the same area would be in the same pool.
The event will run from 9am to 6pm each day, with 12 Pool matches on June 21 and 12 knock-out matches the next day.
Each match lasts 20 minutes.
The tournament kicks off with The Blues taking on Biarritz Olympique.
Amateur teams from clubs and schools around Asia also have a chance to play alongside their heroes.
There will be a veterans' competition on June 21 and a junior competition on June 22 in these categories - Asia 10s Tournament (Open), Over-35, Under-16, Under-14, Under-12, Under-11, Under-10, Under-9 and Under-8.
