Singapore swimming signs record sponsorship deal
Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) and Sportz and Fitness Team Pte Ltd, the sole licensee and distributor for TYR in Singapore and South-east Asia, inked a record sponsorship deal worth $1.6 million at the Stadium Riverside Walk alongside the National Stadium yesterday.
The cash-and-kind deal over five years is the largest in SSA's history.
It will cover all four disciplines - swimming, water polo, synchronised swimming and diving - and SSA's athletes will wear TYR swimwear and apparel when representing Singapore at international meets.
The SSA has secured close to $4 million in sponsorship since mid-2014 and its corporate partners include the likes of OCBC Bank, Neo Garden Catering, Volkswagen, Yakult, and 100plus.
"One of our key strategies for sponsorship at SSA is to secure long-standing partnerships with partners that are passionate about growing aquatic sports in Singapore," said SSA vice-president (Finance) Jose Raymond.
"TYR has been a loyal supporter of the SSA for many years and our current long-term relationship with them will enable both organisations to plan ahead and see that our high-performance athletes are equipped with the latest swimwear for high performance.
"They will also have instant access to a range of high-quality products which they really trust and believe in."
Jacky Yap, managing director of Sportz and Fitness Team Pte Ltd (TYR Singapore) said: "World-class athletes use TYR's cutting-edge technology and products.
"We are definitely committed to supporting aqua-athletes with the best swimwear technology, giving them the required boost they need to perform at their peak in the pool."
National swimmer Danny Yeo, who has been using TYR apparel and swimwear since 2009, gave the deal the thumbs up.
"When training and competing, there is a lot of wear and tear to our swimsuits," Yeo said.
"TYR's sponsorship provides us with the latest quality apparel for both in and out of the pool."
