Two more golds from Singapore sailors at East Coast

Team Singapore sailed to another two gold medals on the final day of sailing competition under cloudy conditions at the National Sailing centre on Sunday.

The women’s skiff 49erFX team of Griselda Khng and Sara Tan - who finished first in their previous races - continued their fine form to win the medal race and take the gold ahead of Malaysia and Thailand, who bagged silver and bronze respectively.

In the women’s double handed youth 420 (U19), the duo of Samantha Annabelle Neubronner and Elise Yukie Yokohama (below) won the gold with 16 points.

In the men’s double handed youth 420 (U19), Singapore’s team of Loh Jia Yi and Matthew Scott Lau finished behind the Malaysian team and had to settle for silver. They finished with 25 points, behind Malaysia’s 12 points. Thailand won the bronze with 26 points.

Singapore concluded the sailing competition as the top-performing nation with 10 golds, seven silvers and one bronze.
