Two more years for Rosberg and Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg - whose friendship and rivalry have been at the centre of much attention this week - will remain teammates for at least two more years, their Mercedes team said yesterday.

As the Formula One circus took its traditional "day of rest" yesterday at the Monaco Grand Prix, a Mercedes spokesman confirmed that the sport's leading pairing - who are first and second in this year's drivers' championship - will remain together until the end of 2016.

"We have long-term relationships with both our drivers," the spokesman said. Mercedes did not release an official statement.

With four wins, Hamilton leads Rosberg by only three points ahead of tomorrow's 78-lap race on the Mediterranean street circuit.

Rosberg won last year's Monaco race and wants to win tomorrow to end the Englishman's current run of wins and regain the ascendancy in the championship. - AFP.
