USA beats Ghana 2-1, scores fastest goal so far in this World Cup

Less than a minute after their Group G clash with Ghana, team USA scored what would be the fastest goal in this tournament so far.

USA's opening goal came after some neat interplay released Clint Dempsey on the right. He deftly cut inside the penalty area, leaving defender John Boye tackling nothing but air and then unleashed a sweetly struck shot that the Ghanaian goalkeeper could not stop.

Ghana came out on the attack after the break as they went in search of the equaliser.

They were rewarded in the 82nd minute when Andre Ayew equalised for the Black Stars after Asamoah Gyan set him up with a brilliant back heel.

The game looked like it was going to end all square until German-born John Brooks headed in USA's winning goal in the 86th min of the game.

USA will take on Portugal on Monday (June 23) while Ghana will face a buoyant Germany on Sunday (June 22).
