Thousands thronged the Malayan Railway station yesterday to witness the end of a chapter in Singapore's railway history.

SEVERAL months ago, Mr Mohammed Ali Latif made the decision to move out of the Malayan Railway (KTM) railway station at Tanjong Pagar, which ceases operations on June 30.
The sun is setting on the old shoe of a building, built in 1932 to house Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM), or Malayan Railway as we know it from British colonial times.

HE USED the footpath (pictured above) - like many others did - to save some time off his journey to his workplace at Biopolis.
For a Singaporean family travelling home from Malaysia last Thursday, their train journey turned into one that they will never forget.
