It was a day to remember for Ms Elaine Tan last Thursday. She was chosen as the winner of The New Paper on Sunday's Treat My Teacher contest thanks to Miss NurSyafinah Johaiden, 19.

Since September 2011,  The New Paper on Sunday has run it's highly popular feature "Who Cooks It Best".

Each week a particular dish was featured with reviews from our intrepid reporters. From Char Siew Rice to Oyster omelette. From Chicken Wings to Red Bean Soup, 41 dishes have been featured so far.

Well, as the feature is taking a break for a while, we decided to quiz just a few of the young reporters on their experience scouring the island to bring you the best Singapore has to offer.

Last Sunday afternoon, I was greeted by a barrage of tweets and SMSes.

“Ey, you conduct that poll in today’s paper ah?” some friends asked. “Where you find these ridiculous girls?”

They were talking about a poll I had been assigned to do.

Saturday morning saw the grisly murder of Singaporean Elsie Lie, 24, at a quiet Jurong West precinct. Her boyfriend, 38,  has been arrested and charged for her murder. Police retrieved various body parts, including what looks to be an eye, flung from the window of the flat.
