Barbie Hsu's final resting place might be next to Teresa Teng's
Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu's final resting place has reportedly been decided on by her husband, South Korean rapper DJ Koo.
The 48-year-old actress, best known for her leading role in the TV series Meteor Garden (2001), died in Japan on Feb 2 due to influenza complications.
According to 8days, Hsu's ashes were brought back to Taiwan on Feb 5 via a chartered flight, and were initially kept in her former residence.
Her family initially planned for a tree burial to fulfil her wish to have an environment-friendly resting place.
However, Koo opposed a tree burial as there would be no gravestone, which would make it difficult for him to visit her in the future.
Alternative burial methods, such as tree, flower and sea burials, have started to gain popularity in Taiwan.
It usually involves planting a tree in a cemetery and placing the ashes in a biodegradable cotton or paper bag beneath its roots.
The family has decided to bury the Taiwanese star at the Jin Bao Shan Memorial Park in New Taipei, Taiwan.
The cemetery houses the graves of celebrities such as Coco Lee, Godfrey Gao and Teresa Teng, who has a statue of herself within the park.
There are also rumours that a statue of Hsu might be constructed at her tomb, although her family has yet to comment on that.
