Fashion Police star Joan Rivers stopped breathing earlier but stable now, says daughter

Fashion Police star Joan Rivers, who was in critical condition today (Singapore time), is now "resting comfortably" in a New York hospital, says her daughter Melissa Rivers.

The comedienne, 81, was hospitalised in critical condition after she stopped breathing during a minor non-surgical procedure.

She was then rushed to Mt Sinai Hospital in Manhattan after a minor endoscopic procedure on her throat.

Rivers, who is best known for delivering sharp, cutting critique of celeb fashion, was last seen promoting her latest book Diary of Mad Diva on Wednesday.

She also took part in a 90-minute Fashion Police special for the 2014 Emmy awards.

Melissa Rivers and her 13-year-old son Cooper have flown to New York to be with her.

The younger Rivers said: "I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother.

"(She) is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers," she said.
