George Clooney's fiance turns down UN offer
Yesterday, Amal Alamuddin showed the world she was definitely more than just George Clooney's fiance after the United Nations offered her a place in a UN panel.
The inquiry will look into possible human rights violations and war crimes committed by both Israel and Gaza in the ongoing conflict.
While international media reported that she had taken on the role, Alamuddin, 36, said she had received the offer but decided against it.
She said: "I am honoured to have received the offer, but given existing commitments - including eight ongoing cases - unfortunately could not accept this role.
"I wish my colleagues who will serve on the commission courage and strength in their endeavours," she added.
