Jurassic Park actor Richard Attenborough dies at the age of 90

Lord Richard Attenborough, the man behind the Oscar-winning movie Gandhi, has died at the age of 90 on Sunday afternoon.

Many will also remember him for his role as John Hammond in the blockbuster The Jurassic Park in 1993.

Lord Attenborough was in a nursing home with his wife for a number of years and was in a wheelchair after falling down the stairs six years ago.

His career as an actor and director spanned almost 60 years but he will perhaps be best known for directing the 1982 film Gandhi, which won him two Oscars.

Sir Ben Kingsley, who played the titular character, said that he would "miss him dearly".

"When he gave me the part of Gandhi, it was with great grace and joy. He place in me an absolute trust and in turn, I placed an absolute trust in him and grew to love him," he added.

British Prime Minister David Cameron and actress Mia Farrow also talked about his contribution to the film industry
