Kesha sues producer for sexual assault while producer sues her for defamation

American pop star Kesha sued her producer Dr. Luke on Tuesday (Oct 14) for allegedly abusing her sexually and emotionally for years, while threatening to harm her career.

Famous for hits such as TiK ToK and We R who we R, Kesha, 27 – who signed with his Kemosabe label when she was 18 – charged the producer, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, with sexual assault and battery.

Court documents said that he had forced her to take drugs and drink alcohol so that he could abuse her sexually when she was under the influence.

Gottwald, 41, has filed his own lawsuit against the pop star, suing the singer for defamation and breach of contract, according to The Rolling Stone.

He claims that Kesha has fabricated her allegations and has attempted to extort him so that she can end her contract with him.

Gottwald has reportedly placed the blame on Kesha's mother, Pebe Sebert, and the singer's new manager.

According to the suit, the singer said she would feed lies to the person behind the "Free Kesha" campaign last year, an online petition that alleged Gottwald was "controlling (her) like a puppet."

"As set forth in the complaint that we have filed on behalf of Dr. Luke, Kesha and her mother are engaged in a campaign of publishing outrageous and untrue statements about Dr. Luke to third parties, including scurrilous and false statements of purported physical and mental abuse of Kesha," Gottwald's lawyery, Christine Lepera, told the Rolling Stone.

Both lawsuits were filed on the same day.
