"Let Renee celebrate her April 25 birthday in peace with her now pretty face"

First, they crucified her for her remarkably changed appearance last October.

Netizens who followed the media circus surrounding Renee Zellweger's alleged plastic surgery fanned the fires of her humiliation then with comments on how she looked like she had aged a decade.

This week, it seems all has been forgotten after the Hollywood actress turned up at a Miu Miu fashion show in Paris, apparently recognisable again,

Now, her former detractors are even asking people to back off her and "let Renee celebrate her April 25 birthday in peace with her now pretty face".

Why the sudden kindness?

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that Zellweger, 45, looked uncomfortable and walked with her head down at times at Paris Fashion Week.

Some netizens admitted that they may have made a mistake with presuming that the Bridget Jones star had work done.

In a previous story on Zellweger, The New Paper had reported that Singapore plastic surgeon Woffles Wu had said that he felt that she likely had gone on a crash diet with resulted in massive fat-loss from her face.

What's your take on this? We'll let you decide for yourselves.

This week, she appeared in public looking more like her former self (bottom).

The Daily Mail reported that Zellweger looked radiant in Paris as she graced the fashion events with minimal make-up.

Maybe she was trying to re-emphasise her point that she's always going to do whatever she pleases.

Last year, on criticism of her markedly different appearance, she told People:

"It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth, which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door.

"I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows.

On paparazzi bugging her about her face she said:

"Oh my God, you're going to ask me that question! Can you excuse me please? I have better things to do and I'm sure you do too."

Fans can expect to see her on the big screen soon starring opposite Keanu Reeves in The Whole Truth, and Jon Voight and Greg Kinnear in Same Kind Of Different As Me.
