1 BORN TO ACT

Australia has produced many solid actors and the 15-year-old is the latest addition to that list.

Rice's director father and playwright mother run theatre company Always Working Artists.

Rice told Melbourne radio station 3AW: "I grew up on the stage. I would go to the rehearsals after school.

"My younger sister and I would be our parents' test audience and we would read lines for them.

"I knew at an early age that I wanted to be an actor."

2 THIRD LEAD

Rice stars in her first Hollywood film as Ryan Gosling's daughter in The Nice Guys, now showing in cinemas.

The action-comedy follows Gosling's private detective Holland who's trying to solve a missing-person case. Joining him is Russell Crowe's wannabe investigator Jackson.

Director Shane Black said at the film's Cannes Film Festival press conference recently that Rice was not a peripheral character but "the third lead and the men's conscience" .

3 BONDING SESSION

Rice insisted she needed to get to know Gosling better before production started, so she went to his house.

She told The New York Times: "It was Halloween and we carved pumpkins. That was a lot of fun."

4 AUSSIE SUPPORT

Rice said having a fellow Australian like Crowe on the set in Los Angeles helped a lot.

"Being new and away from home, having an Aussie there made me feel comfortable," said Rice, adding that Crowe always looked out for her.

"He is gentle and caring, someone I can lean on for advice and stuff."

5 ROLE MODELS

Rice, who is juggling school and work, cites actresses Emma Watson and Emma Stone as role models.

She told 3AW: "Watson did that whole franchise thing (the Harry Potter movies) while having a tutor on set and achieved good grades. I love Stone in The Help and Easy A.

"I would like to have a career like theirs."
