The M Match-Up: Batman V Superman
Everyone knows Batman and Superman duke it out in Dawn Of Justice, but there are more important things than fist-fighting. Who is the winner when it comes to more important things in life, like mums, careers and clothes? Let's find out.
We don't see much of Martha Wayne in the movie, but she makes an impression. For a start, she's played by the super-hot Lauren Cohan. Later, she dies trying to protect the young Bruce Wayne from a random scumbag. Great mum, but unfortunately a dead mum.
The lovely Diane Lane plays Martha Kent and she's a major character. She's wonderfully supportive of her troubled super son, offering wisdom and compassion. When things go sideways, she remains brave and defiant. She also tells the only joke in the movie.
ROUND ONE: SUPERMAN
The Man of Steel's mother: Bigger role, bigger actress.
As the scion of the Wayne family, Bruce has the best job in the world - being rich. His duties as the owner of Wayne Enterprises are basically to dress fancy, tell people what to do and party with gorgeous babes.
Clark Kent is a journalist. Poor fella. He spends his days dealing with an antagonistic boss, hostile sources and an indifferent public. Hard work for a meagre salary. As a journalist (well, entertainment journalist), I can relate.
ROUND TWO: BATMAN
Playboy CEO beats harried reporter hands down.
As Bruce Wayne, he's dressed to the nines in designer suits and tuxedos, tending towards sleek colours like black, blue and white. As Batman, he rocks a weirdly lumpy version of his traditional cape 'n' cowl as well as a new robo-bat look. Love the glowing eyes!
For a journalist, Clark Kent dresses okay. Nice plaid shirts, tweed jackets, striped ties. His colour palette is earthier than Bruce's, and he's more casual. And let's not forget the nerd/hipster black-rimmed glasses. His darkly shimmering Superman costume is a fresh and sexy take on the classic one-piece.
ROUND THREE: IT'S A DRAW
Bruce Wayne looks better in civilian clothes, but Superman is tops in terms of super suits.
THE WINNER: IT'S A DRAW
How to choose between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel? It can't be done. At least not by me.
