Movie Review: Long Long Time Ago 2 (PG13)
The second part of local director Jack Neo's nostalgic kampung film is here to elicit laughs and wring out tears.
It continues the story of widow Zhao Di's (Aileen Tan) family. After the 1960s nationwide floods, she takes over her father's (Wang Lei) farm.
As Singapore develops, the government begins taking over land for development, forcing villagers to move out of their kampung.
More touching than the first, this movie is slightly let down by unnecessary gag-worthy scenes of human faeces and Tan's armpit hair.
Someone please remind Neo that he is a good storyteller. He doesn't need to resort to crudeness to snag more eyeballs.
