Movie Review: Masterminds (PG13)

You know instantly, from its star-studded cast, that this is supposed to be a comedy.

Apart from Saturday Night Live alumni such as Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig, it also has renowned comedians like Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis.

Given the amount of talent onscreen, it is both a miracle and a tragedy that this is one of the most unfunny comedies ever made.

Based on a true story, Masterminds follows David Ghantt (Galifianakis), a dim-witted security guard who gets roped into one of the largest bank robberies in US history.

The film runs from one failed joke to another, and Leslie Jones, who plays an FBI agent, is the sole actor to deliver a successful punchline.

This really is a heist movie because it feels like you're getting robbed simply by paying to watch it.

Verdict: 1/5
